Thanks to a number of significant anniversaries in the borough this year and our fantastic #CelebratingBexley programme we have had a busy few months.

Partners, businesses, community groups and residents have all helped us shape our celebrations. Their involvement is another example of the great community spirit we have here in Bexley. We have a brilliant borough with so much to enjoy. You can read about some of those special anniversaries in this edition.

In May we marked VE - or Victory in Europe – Day, a date that signified the end of the war in Europe, bringing six years of a terrible world war conflict to an end. Street parties took place across the borough to mark the day and our Mayor held a special Remembrance Service and raised the VE flag. Its important that we never forget the sacrifice that so many made so that we could live in peace.

We also opened an important new resource for families and children earlier this year. The new Erith Family Hub will provide services for families and children from pregnancy right up to 18 years old. It offers guidance, connections and well-being support all in one place. It’s a great new facility and worth looking into if you have a young family.

I hope you enjoy reading it and I wish you all a great fun filled summer.
