Apply for a crane or oversail licence

Use this service to apply for a crane or oversail licence if you intend to:

  • complete a crane operation on the public verge, footway, cycleway or carriageway
  • oversail the public highway during a crane operation
  • place traffic management on the highway in order to complete a crane operation
This process can take up to 12 weeks, so it is best if you apply as early as possible.

Completion takes around 5 minutes.

  • the location of the works
  • the type of licence you are applying for
  • when the works will start and end
  • further information about your application (if applicable)
  • your name, address and contact information
