Host and Support

Would you like to support a young person in care but are worried that you can’t because of work commitments?

Our Host and Support providers over a safe and secure home to young people over the age of 16 and can do this alongside their regular work.

The Host and Support scheme allows young people who want to be more independent to live in a family setting where they are supported by their provider to learn independence skills and prepare them for adulthood. Providers received full training as well as ongoing support and regular meetings with other providers.

Private Fostering

Private fostering is when a child under the age of 16 (18 if disabled) lives with someone not a close relative for 28 days or more.

Private Fostering is very different from the care formally provided by local authorities through approved foster carers. The Council has a legal duty to ensure that children and young people in this situation are safe and properly cared for. Under the Children Act, you must tell the Council if you are entering into a private fostering arrangement.
