Consultation on building control fees and charges from 1 April 2023

The Council is consulting residents, agents and others on a revised fee structure which would begin on 1 April 2023.

The proposed new fees are set out below.

The Council’s Head of Service in consultation with relevant Members will consider all representations made within the consultation period before finalising the revised fees and charges.

Current fees and charges

All prices shown are exclusive of VAT, please add VAT 20%, except in the case of regularisation charges.

  • where estimate exceeds £5,000, for a quote telephone 020 8303 7777 and ask for building control
  • for new dwellings and flat, commercial work, garage conversions or any other work not described in the fees table, for a quote telephone 020 8303 7777 and ask for building control

Building Control fees were adjusted from 15 January 2018, with the integration of some categories of work, which will simplify the fee determination process. The new structure more accurately reflects the process, and time taken on projects, for both the administrative and technical roles. This is reflected in service improvements with regard to plan checking and site inspections.
