Why are we #CelebratingBexley this year?
Bexley is one of London and the South-East’s best-kept secrets: blessed with an array of cultural treasures, miles of precious green and blue spaces and a network of thriving communities, each with its own distinctive character – from vibrant creative quarters and diverse town centres, to quiet villages of historical interest and neighbourhoods overlooking natural beauty spots.
It is a place where creativity thrives, a breeding ground for digital talent and home to world-class theatre training. With London, the Thames and Kent countryside converging in Bexley, the borough has immense potential as an important creative and cultural destination.
The year 2025 brings significant milestones. Not only is it the 60th anniversary of the Borough. It’s also the centenary of Danson Park, the 500th anniversary of the dissolution of Lesnes Abbey and 160 years since Crossness Pumping Station opened. These are just three of many gems in Bexley - a Borough ripe for exploration by young, old and everyone in-between.
In 2025, an array of talented creatives bring their work – including music, drama, art, poetry and dance - into precious places across the borough.
#CelebratingBexley shines a light on the people and places that make it special.
There’s no better time to discover Bexley.
