Are you aged between 14 and 18 and interested in radio? journalism? podcasts? YouTube?

In An Introduction to Radio Journalism, you’ll learn all about media production by getting to grips with equipment and creating a radio news segment.

This is a free course that lets young people get more hands-on experience with creating the content they read, listen to and watch. It is designed to teach young people the full extent of what goes into creating the media around them; be it serious new programmes, investigative podcasts or even celebrity TikToks.

You will have access to training with recording equipment and editing software, meaning you can get really stuck in! Over the three sessions, members will create a full local radio news segment, taking ideas from planning, through recording and editing, and into post-production. You will learn new technical skills, work with recording equipment and get insights into how the media industry works. This course will also develop teamwork skills as members will collaborate together on making their final product.

This course is designed and led by Robert Gammon-Ross, a local freelance content writer, audio producer and video editor.
