The Council’s waste and recycling contractor Countrystyle are investing over £450k in new street cleaning vehicles to keep Bexley clean and green.

Countrystyle were appointed by the London Borough of Bexley in 2021 and working with the Council they maintain 62 square kilometres of Bexley’s streets.

In total four new sweeping vehicles have been added to the Countrystyle street cleaning fleet. The largest is the Bucher VT65t a 17-tonne machine for cleaning large easy access roads that will enable more of Bexley’s main roads to be swept in a shorter period of time.

In addition two mechanical sweeping vehicles have also been added and these will increase sweeping capacity on residential roads.  A fourth new vehicle to assist with shop front cleaning and to help mobile crews access streets and footpaths with tarmac has also been added.

Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Diment, said;

This substantial increase in investment in street cleaning vehicles reflects our commitment to keeping Bexley clean and green and to improving key services for our residents.”

Countrystyle’s Assistant Contract Manager, Darren Retour, said;
