Foster Care Fortnight (13 to 26 May) is a nationwide campaign designed to highlight the important role that foster carers play in providing stable, loving homes for children and young people in care.
The theme this year is "Fostering Moments". During the fortnight Bexley’s Fostering Recruitment Team will be sharing some real life ‘Fostering Moments’ videos from the members of Bexley fostering community.
The team will also be hosting a series of events open to all, to provide information about fostering, share success stories and answer questions from prospective foster carers.
The events will offer an opportunity to meet current foster carers, learn about the different types of fostering, and understand the support available for those who choose to foster.
Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Philip Read said:
Foster Care Fortnight is an ideal time for our community to come together and learn how we can make a difference in the lives of these young people.
We know that our foster carers are everyday heroes who make a huge difference in the lives of children and young people. This week is a chance to show their work has provided them with some very special moments over the years.
Our recruitment team wants to hear from anyone who may want to get involved with fostering whether by becoming a carer themselves or by helping us to spread the word. Come along to one of the events and see if you could be another Bexley hero."
