On Friday 17 May, the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath was filled with pride and celebration as the Annual Civic Recognition Awards took place. This year, over 99 nominations were submitted, highlighting the remarkable contributions made by individuals across three categories: Civic Recognition of Voluntary Service by Young People, Civic Recognition of Voluntary Service by Adults and Civic Recognition of Outstanding Achievement.
With an impressive 39 winners, this year's awards honour the dedication and hard work of those who have significantly contributed to our community. The winners are celebrated for their selfless service, exceptional achievements and inspiring volunteer efforts.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Baroness O'Neill of Bexley OBE, expressed her admiration for the winners stating,
The Civic Recognition Awards are a testament to the incredible spirit of our community. It is inspiring to see our young people and adults dedicating their time and energy to make Bexley a better place for all. Each nominee and winner have made a significant impact and we are immensely proud of their contributions."
Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Ahmet Dourmoush, echoed these sentiments, adding,
These awards showcase the outstanding efforts and achievements of our residents. Their commitment to voluntary service and their exceptional accomplishments are truly commendable. We are grateful for their dedication and proud to honour them tonight."
