Fostering Together hosts rock-climbing adventure

Foster children, children who foster alongside their families and their carers, came together for a memorable day of bonding, laughter and adventure at a rock-climbing adventure day during the Easter holidays.

The event was organised by Fostering Together, a programme made up of eight fostering communities that support Bexley foster carers.

The fun-filled day proved to be a great success with big smiles from all the children, while foster carers took the opportunity to meet up with members of Fostering Together to find out more about what support they can provide.

A special highlight of the day was a generous donation from the London Fire Brigade, who gifted Easter eggs to all the children, adding an extra touch of joy and surprise to the celebration.

Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Chris Taylor said:

We understand that fostering can be both challenging and rewarding. That’s why Fostering Together is so important to ensure our foster carers receive the support they deserve while caring for our children. Events like these are fun for the children, but they’re also vital in helping our carers feel connected, appreciated and part of a strong community. My thanks go to everyone who took part in the day and especially to the London Fire Brigade for their kindness and continued support.”

Bexley Foster Carer, Jasmin said:

This event allowed our fostering families to relax, have fun and feel part of a larger community.”

Fostering Together provides children, young people, foster carers and their families with a caring and resilient fostering community where supportive relationships can be built through extended family networks.

Each Fostering Together community is made up of approximately 6 to 8 fostering families who are viewed as extended members of the Core Carers home.

The Core Carer is an experienced foster carer who leads the community, offering foster families peer support, guidance, knowledge and experience, alongside social activities and sleepovers. Helping to strengthen relationships and empower families to support each other.

If you work and are worried about how fostering could fit into your life, Fostering Together is ideal for you.
