Help us shape a safer Bexley

Bexley Community Safety Survey

The Bexley Community Safety Partnership (BCSP) will use the feedback gathered from this survey, alongside other data, to set its priorities for the 2025/26 period.

Councillor Brian Bishop, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, emphasised the importance of community participation. He said:

Bexley is a safe and thriving community, but we understand that crime can have a significant impact on the lives of our residents. It’s crucial that everyone feels secure, both at home and in our public spaces. By participating in this survey, you’re helping us better understand the concerns of our community so we can take action where it matters most.’’

Some of the actions taken following last year’s Bexley Community Safety Survey that identified burglary, drugs, and vehicle crime as the top issues included:

  • Burglary: Bexley continues to boast the lowest burglary rate in London. This achievement is the result of effective awareness campaigns and targeted police operations that have successfully disrupted known offenders. Efforts to inform residents and businesses about practical measures to prevent burglary have further contributed to this low crime rate.
  • Drugs: The introduction of Project Adder has been pivotal in tackling drug-related crime. This police-led initiative, which works in partnership with local agencies, targets organised crime groups and provides support to individuals affected by criminal exploitation.
  • Vehicle crime: To address concerns about vehicle theft, increased awareness campaigns have focused on securing vehicles, while police operations have targeted organised crime groups responsible for high-value vehicle thefts.

These actions reflect our commitment to addressing the community’s priorities and improving safety in Bexley.

The survey is open from Friday 13 September to 31 October 2024. Make sure you have your say at Bexley Community Safety Survey.

The BCSP includes the Council, Probation, Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, Bexley Borough Neighbourhood Watch Association, Victim Support and other local organisations that work together to address crime, antisocial behaviour and substance misuse in the borough.
