A big thank you to everyone who has donated money or items for our Bexley Boxes, or volunteered time to help with packing or delivering them.
We have been thrilled with the response from local residents, businesses and Councillors to help housebound pensioners stay well this winter.
We have received literally thousands of donated items - from tins of soup and fruit, packets of rice and pasta, boxes of tea bags and mince pies, to new woollen hats and socks. Each Bexley Box is unique and includes a selection of warming food staples, some items of clothing such as a blanket, hat, gloves and socks to help keep the recipients stay warm, along with guidance on how to keep well this winter and contact details if further support is needed.
The boxes have been funded entirely by your donations. They are now being distributed by volunteers to housebound elderly residents across the borough.
If you have not yet made a donation and would like to do so, it is not too late. We are able to receive donations up to and including Monday 6 January 2025. Please email BexleyBox@bexley.gov.uk if you would like to make a donation, or know a housebound elderly resident who would like to receive a box.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Leader of the Council,
Cllr Baroness O’Neill of Bexley OBE
