This week (3 October) saw the new operator take over the management of the library.
Inspire Community Trust were chosen to operate the library earlier this year following the Council’s call for community groups to come forward after its previous community managed arrangements had ended.
Inspire Community Trust, who already operate in Bexley and currently manage the Blue Badge scheme on behalf of the Council, have a vision to provide an inclusive and diverse offer to the community.
Under the new management arrangements, the core services of the library will be enhanced by drop-in sessions to aid sensory support services, access to care assessments and inclusive events, activities and groups taking place for the community to meet and find support.
Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, Cllr Sue Gower MBE said:
This is very good news for local library users. It’s also great to know that, along with our regular community library services, Inspire Community Trust will offer events and a meeting place for support groups. I’m very much looking forward to visiting soon."
Inspire’s Chief Executive, Vinod Kumar Khanna said:
With nearing 20 years’ experience in servicing the local community through health and social care services, Inspire are expanding our service range to offer further community work and we look forward to working alongside the community to bring about developments for the Bexley Village library. We are excited to bring Inspire’s brand and ethos to the local community through this landmark site, creating a fresh, inclusive and engaging space for all to access."
