Bexley Library Service was deeply saddened to hear that local author Elaine Everest has passed away.
Her sudden passing was a great shock and will be a huge loss to her many loyal fans across Bexley, who have been enthralled by her best-selling historical sagas, featuring the Woolworths Girls, the Teashop Girls and the Butlins Girls.
She is perhaps most well known for her series of books featuring the Woolworths Girls, which was set in the store in Erith. Her new book, “A Christmas Wish at Woolworths” is due to be published at the end of October. Elaine has long been a great supporter of libraries, giving talks about her books and hosting creative writing workshops over many years to pass on her knowledge and skills to new writers.
Our sincere sympathies go to her husband, Michael, at this very sad time – Elaine will be greatly missed.
