Following the introduction of new processes the waste and recycling service in Bexley has improved with the number of missed bin collections per month in the Borough falling by almost 20%.
Every month the Councils Waste & Recycling service collects over 1 million bins in Bexley with 99.88% of these successfully completed, a figure well above average and a significant improvement on collection levels since 2021 when Countrystyle were first contracted to deliver the service.
Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods Cllr Richard Diment said,
We’ve listened carefully to the local community and made improvements to ensure we do our part as a Council to make it easier for residents to recycle and to keep Bexley clean and green.
We want everyone to take pride in their local neighbourhood and with the support of our residents we’ll continue to make improvements that help increase Bexley’s recycling rates”.
Improvements include new processes to monitor service delivery which enable the team to tackle problems such as missed bins more quickly. In addition better contract management arrangements have led to an improved partnership working between the Council and its contractor Countrystyle and have improved efficiency levels.
The Council has also improved its online waste management system and residents can now find out real time information about their bin collection service and report missed bin collections more easily.
