Ways to pay your Council Tax
The easiest way to pay your Council Tax is to register for an online Council Tax account and pay by Direct Debit.
Don't have an online Council Tax account?
Paying Direct Debit
Most people pay their Council Tax using Direct Debit as it is easy, safe, and secure. You can choose to pay on the 1, 15 or 25 of each month. You can also choose to pay in 1 payment or 10 monthly instalments.
To set up your Direct Debit, complete the Direct Debit application. You can also amend the bank details or payment date on an existing Direct Debit.
Other ways to pay
Online banking
You can pay your Council Tax by transferring the money to us from your bank or building society account.
To do this, you will need to log on to your online bank or building society account. To pay your council tax, you will need:
- your Council Tax account number, shown on your bill
- payment amount
- our account name: London Borough of Bexley
- our sort code: 51 70 14
- our account number: 21101183

Debit card payment
The easiest way to pay your Council Tax and manage your payments is to register for an online Council Tax account and pay by Direct Debit.
If you don't manage your Council Tax account and payments online, you can make a one-off payment using your debit card.
To do so, you will need:
- Council Tax account number, shown on your bill
- address and email details
- payment amount

You will need your:
- Council Tax account number, shown on your bill

- debit card
Have a pen and paper with you to make a note of your payment reference number.

Visiting libraries
Opening times have recently changed at our libraries. This includes all libraries operating on a self-service basis on Saturday. Check the libraries below for current opening times and available services.
You can pay your Council Tax in person with a valid debit card at the following Bexley Libraries.

Problems paying your Council Tax?
If you are on a low income and have problems paying your Council Tax, you can apply for the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
Refunds
If you are due a refund and pay by Direct Debit, you will receive an automatic refund.
If you pay by cash or card, complete a refund request form.
Payments are made twice weekly by BACs and take three working days to transfer into a bank account.
Sending us documents
If you need to send the Council Tax office documents or have written us a letter and cannot post it, you may upload the documents.
