Apply for travel assistance

Use this service to:

• apply for travel assistance to a school or college for a child or young person

Completion takes around 15 minutes.

Eligibility

To be eligible, a child or young person must:

• be aged 5 to 16 (compulsory school age)
• go to their nearest qualifying school (a school with places available that provides education appropriate to the age, ability and aptitude of the child, and any special educational needs that the child may have) and live further than the statutory walking distance from their school

Before you start

You need to provide the following information:

• the type of application you are making (school age, Post 16, etc)
• the child or young person's name, age and address
• information about the child or young person's household
• emergency contact details
• the child or young person's medical requirements and transport equipment needs
• details of the school or college they need travel assistance to
• social worker or social services information (if applicable)
• household income and benefits information
• your name and contact information
