Our Leadership Academy includes development programmes for social workers working towards Senior Practitioner roles; Senior Practitioners and others who are interested in developing their leadership skills; and programmes to support Assistant Team Managers, Team Managers and Service Managers to consolidate and develop their management and leadership skills and experience.

ASYE Academy
We welcome Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) to our ASYE Academy to consolidate degree learning, develop capability and strengthen professional confidence. Through our comprehensive and tailored ASYE programme, Bexley NQSWs have the support and opportunities to flourish as capable, motivated, reliable, and reflective early career Social Workers.
Bexley’s ASYE Academy includes:
- opportunities to work alongside, and learn from, experienced colleagues in teams across Children’s Social Care and partners
- a comprehensive programme of learning, development and support underpinned by the Skills for Care ASYE Framework

Social Work Co-Production Alliance Teaching Partnership
The Co-Production Alliance is an initiative including Bexley Children’s Social Care; Bexley Adult Health & Social Care; Lambeth Children’s and Adults Social Care; University of Greenwich; Hestia; and the University of Kent (associate partner).
The Teaching Partnership brings universities and local authorities together to deliver high-quality training for social workers and build stronger connections between social work education and practice. The partnership aims to improve the recruitment, retention and development of social care practitioners and the overall quality of practice with children, adults, and families.
Colleagues can access a variety of learning experiences and development opportunities through the Teaching Partnership, including:
- learning events bringing together colleagues across the partnership benefitting from shared learning and collaboration
- University of Greenwich Continuing Professional Development modules: a range of modules on offer to colleagues each year on topics such as domestic abuse or equality, diversity and inclusion in social work practice to support research into practice and collaborative learning
- practitioner teaching: sharing practice expertise and knowledge with students at the Universities of Greenwich and Kent in lectures and workshops
- hosting Student Social Workers from the Universities of Greenwich and Kent and opportunities to undertake Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) qualifications
