Performing Arts Centre to throw doors open to community

London College of Performing Arts and Theatre Street Performing Arts

London College of Performing Arts and Theatre Street Performing Arts will jointly throw the doors open to The Link in Thamesmead and invite the community in to see how stars are born!

The two theatre training schools will be holding an open day at their performing arts centre on Saturday 5 April. The open day will allow visitors a glimpse of the prestigious facilities on offer at the centre and give local children and young people a chance to learn some dance moves.

The Open Day is part of the #CelebratingBexley programme; the boroughs year-long celebration of arts, culture and events in Bexley, marking a year of significant anniversaries, including the 60th anniversary of the formation of the London Borough of Bexley. The programme seeks to encourage local people and visitors to discover cultural gems in the borough where city, river and countryside connect.

Councillor Cafer Munur, Cabinet Member for Place Shaping said:

We are incredibly fortunate in Bexley to have some brilliant theatre training schools, but the London College of Performing Arts and Theatre Street are hidden gems in Bexley waiting to be discovered by local residents who may have never had a chance to visit them before. These amazing schools offer our children the chance to train with real stars of the west end stage and the silver screen. I am pleased they are inviting the whole community to come and see what they do and I hope that the event will inspire local children and young people to take part in the performing arts.''

Gary Watson, West End star and Ambassador and Artistic Associate of London College of Performing Arts said:

We are so excited to be a part of the #CelebratingBexley programme and we look forward to welcoming the local community to our studios and help inspire the next wave of exciting young performers!''

The event will take place from 3 to 6pm on Saturday 5 April at The Link, Bazalgette Way, Thamesmead.  To reserve a spot visit the London College of Performing Arts website and follow the link on the home page to register.
