Rail and bus:

  • the nearest railway station is Welling
  • bus routes 51 and B15 stop a 5-minute walk away

Car:

  • from the A2, exit at Riefield Road
  • take Rochester Way and then Welling Way to Wickham Street. The entrance will be on the left-hand side
  • parking is limited and may be restricted during funeral services
  • disabled visitors may apply for a parking permit for access beyond the barrier

The cemeteries are manned Monday to Friday, except bank holidays.

Burials

This cemetery is available for full earthen burials.

Currently available:

  • private earthen plots for all denominations (suitable for one or two interments and six sets of cremated remains)
  • private earthen plots for babies or non-viable foetuses (suitable for one baby)
  • underground burial vaults memorial garden (suitable for one to two interments). Some underground burial vaults also have room for cremated remains

Burial of cremated remains

There are a number of options for the burial of cremated remains:

Sanctum vaults

  • the memorial garden comprises a series of small pre-cast vaults sunk into the ground
  • each can take two sets of cremated remains in caskets or other containers of a pre-set size (maximum is 10.5 inches x 7 inches x 6.5 inches)
  • the vault is sealed with a flat marble stone, recessed to take an inscribed memorial tablet
  • a granite vase is fixed to the vault and is included in the overall costs
  • the graves and vaults are leased for a period of thirty years with the option to renew the lease on expiry

  • plots are suitable for up to two sets of cremated remains and are owned by the Council
  • a black granite vase purchased from the Council is placed on top of the grave
