Joining a nursery class is an important step for a child. Nursery classes in Bexley primary schools follow the Early Years Foundation Stage – a framework which is based on the principle of learning through play and gives a great start to pre-school children.
Your child’s primary education starts in nursery. Nursery classes are important to us and you are encouraged to find out as much as possible about our school nurseries in order to make decisions about what is best for your child. Not all primary schools have nursery classes but there are enough places in Bexley’s school nursery classes, day nurseries, pre-schools and playgroups run by private, voluntary and independent organisations for every three and four-year-old child in the Borough.
This online admission to nursery classes booklet has been prepared to give you the information you need when making your application for a place in a nursery class. If you have any questions or need further information, you will find our contact details further down where our team is on hand to help. You can also find the contact details for Bexley Schools and Voluntary Aided Schools and Academies in this booklet.
There is just one application period for applying to start nursery in September 2024. You will need to apply for a nursery place between 16 January and 6 April 2024.
On the Schools and sessions offered page, you will find a list of Bexley schools with nursery classes. Most provide sessions in either the mornings or afternoons. However, some are now offering different patterns of attendance. More details can be found in this booklet.
Bexley residents can apply online for a nursery class place and we would encourage you to do so. It is quick, easy and secure. Free internet access is available at all libraries if you do not have a computer at home. I hope that your child enjoys the beginning of their education in Bexley and thank you for taking the time to read this information.
