Library strategy public consultation

Bexley Library Service is undertaking a public consultation on a draft Library Strategy, covering the period from 2025 to 2030, seeking feedback from residents and library users about the proposals. The consultation will run from Monday 11 November until 13 January 2025.

The draft strategy proposes to focus on four key priorities:

1. Literacy and Reading

  • To promote reading through a wide range of books and other resources for adults and children

2. Culture and Creativity

  • To expand on the culture and creative activities Bexley residents can currently experience and participate in within the Borough

3. Digital and Economic Improvement

  • Providing quality information and digital support to help individuals and businesses grow

4. Health and Wellbeing

  • Promoting healthy living through signposting and connecting with communities

In addition, the new strategy will seek to enhance the activities and programmes offered by libraries to ensure they are offering the services that residents want and need to live happy, thriving lives.

The consultation is hosted on Ask Bexley, the London Borough of Bexley’s new participation platform. You can share your views by completing the survey on the link below. Paper copies of the consultation will also be available in libraries for those who cannot or prefer not to use the online platform.

The award is a special nod to Bexley’s Building Control and Project Teams as well as construction partners Neilcott Construction Ltd and DRDH.

The Storyteller will now be put forward to the national LABC awards in January 2025.

This follows the new building winning a coveted Pineapple award earlier this year in recognition of its contribution to the renewal of Sidcup High Street and its positive impact on the local community.

The library is run by the Council and the cinema is a partnership between London Borough of Bexley and independent operator, Really Local Group (RLG).
