New cleaning vehicles

The Council’s waste and recycling contractor Countrystyle are investing over £450k in new street cleaning vehicles to keep Bexley clean and green.

In total four new sweeping vehicles have been added to the Countrystyle fleet.

The Clearing

The Clearing, a new woodland outdoor classroom and activity space at Lesnes Abbey Woods, with free activities for families and children, opened in September.

The opening of The Clearing is the culmination of a successful application to the Parks for People National Lottery Heritage Fund that resulted in £3.46 million funding.

Tennis Courts

Danson Park tennis courts have officially reopened as part of a £338,342 renovation taking place across Bexley, managed by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association), funded by the Council, UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation.

The courts have undergone extensive work to ensure viability for years to come.

Eltham Crematorium Award

Eltham Crematorium, that is governed by a joint committee from Bexley, Greenwich and Dartford councils, received the London in Bloom Gold Award last month.

Chairman of the Eltham Crematorium Joint Committee and Bexley’s Deputy Leader, Cllr David Leaf said:

We do our utmost to ensure that the grounds and floral areas are attractive throughout the year, helping to make it a tranquil place where families and loved ones can feel at peace.”

By-election results

The by-election of a Councillor for Belvedere Ward took place on Thursday 17 October.

Jeremy Fosten (Labour) has been elected as the new Borough Councillor for Belvedere Ward.
