The London Borough of Bexley has secured £1.3m of funding through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. The fund aims to make improvements to Town Centres and High Streets whilst supporting small independent businesses across Bexley. Support for small businesses is delivered via the Talking Business brand within Bexley.

The Talking Business programme is delivered through five complementary services each designed to support local businesses. These are outlined below.

1-2-1 Business Coaching and Advice

We have appointed a local business support advisor who is experienced in providing 1-2-1 support and advice across industries. The advisor will complete a full diagnostic assessment and signpost your business to avenues of support and external resources alongside providing information or conducting research for your business.

Help with Starting a Business

Start-Ups and individuals interested in starting a small business within Bexley are invited to access our Business Start-Up Programme delivered by CPG Executive Consulting.

CPG are able to support pre-start and early-stage micro businesses build a viable and sustainable business plan with networking events, 1-2-1 interventions, group workshops and access to an innovative online resources programme ‘MyGrowthPod’.

Cash Grants for Training and Upskilling

We have introduced a small grants scheme for Bexley-based small businesses providing match-funding for businesses to enrol staff on training courses and qualifications.

Funding is available to cover up to 50% of the overall cost of training, up to £1000 per business – claims of £200 or under can be supported in full.

Interested organisations should apply via the link below if the course to be undertaken will contribute to their growth or enhance the skills of their staff.

Additional funding and support for small businesses

Bexley Businesses are able to access a maximum of one support service delivered by Talking Business in addition to the Talking Business Grant scheme.

If your business does not meet the eligibility criteria to access the programme, or if you have already accessed support and would like more, then the below partner organisations may be able to provide further help.
